The Primary Election is set for Tuesday, May 13 — voters will have the opportunity to cast their ballots regarding federal races, one state constitutional amendment and, if they live in District 2 or 5 in York County, for commissioner.
In District 5, two Republicans are running — Incumbent Bob Wolfe and Pat Bredenkamp. Because no one from any other party is running, the Primary winner will ultimately be elected commissioner — as they will be unopposed in the General Election in November.
In District 2, it’s a different story. On the Republican side, there are five candidates — Incumbent Ken Stuhr, Erick Brekke, Merv Ocken, Dean Blum and Kurt Bulgrin. The top vote-getter from among those candidates will run against the lone Democrat, Doug Deprez, in the fall.
The News-Times asked the commissioner candidates to outline their intentions and asked them general questions about how they see the office and the needs of the county. Their responses appear as written . . . see accompanying stories.
