Q: Why did you decide to run for this particular office?
A: I decided to run for county commissioner to bring a new voice and perspective to county government, and was encouraged to do so by friends and neighbors in the community. I am very interested in county government, and it would be an honor to give my time and service to the people of the 2nd district. There are many facets of county government, including but not limited to roads, veteran services, abandoned cemeteries, and general assistance, all of which impacts the county budget. I would examine how county tax dollars are used, and whether they are being spent wisely and efficiently. I am the sixth generation of my family to live in York County, and I want to ensure that future generations will want to call York County their home.

Q: Have you ever held another public office, and if so, what was it?
A: No, I have not held another public office.

Q: What in your background will benefit you in this capacity?
A: I currently serve on my congregation's Stewardship Board and Church Council, and also serve as President of the Thrivent Financial Seward County Chapter Leadership Team. Through these groups I have gained experience working with other board members, and have learned how to promote community involvement in these organizations. Serving in these leadership roles has given me experience in appropriating funds in a fiscally responsible manner.

Q: Work experience?
A: In my capacity as a Legislative Aide at the Nebraska Legislature, I have had many opportunities to monitor and work on legislation that impacts counties. This experience has given me insight into how government agencies operate.

Q: Political experience?
A: I have assisted with local and state level campaigns.

Q: What do you hope to accomplish if elected?
A: It is my desire to maintain fiscal accountability for the taxpayers of York County while promoting economic growth. If elected, I will work with board members and the residents of the county for the betterment of our community.

Please rank the following issues by importance, with 1 being the most important — as it pertains to how you see priorities for the county:
Keeping a tight budget
Economic development
Maintenance and new construction of roads
Veterans affairs
Cooperation with the city of York and other municipalities
Other
Comments:
I believe that many issues involving county government impact one another, therefore ranking these issues is a complex task. Components of economic development include cooperation with municipal and business leaders, as well as road maintenance and construction. Through economic development, valuation may be added, resulting in lower property taxes. Added valuation positively impacts the funding for county services, including veterans affairs. All these factors contribute to maintaining a fiscally responsible budget.
