Merdith (Mertie) E. Schlegelmilch, 76, of Benedict, passed away Friday, June 28, 2013 at Autumn House in Lincoln.
She was born on May 1, 1937 in Milford. She married Harvey Schlegelmilch in York on June 5, 1955.
Merdith was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great grandmother and friend. She was a kind and generous woman who was always helping and thinking of others. She enjoyed going to Deadwood and Las Vegas with her husband and family, camping and volunteering her time at church.
Leaving behind with a big hole in their lives is her husband of 58 years, Harvey; daughter, Sandra and husband Terry Wiler; sons, Lonney Schlegelmilch and wife Theresa and Corey Schlegelmilch and wife Natalie; sister, Gladys and husband Jerry Pierce; twin brother, Marvin Hablitzel and wife Connie; brother, David Peters and wife Karen; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one great-great granddaughter and nieces and nephews.
It was Merdith’s wish to be cremated, there will be no public visitation. Services will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, July 8, 2013 at Zion Lutheran Church in Benedict. Internment will take place at Pleasant Hill Cemetery. A luncheon will be served at the Benedict Community Center following internment to celebrate Merdith’s life and the beautiful person she was.
