It’s time to SWING! For Fun Clubbers who want to see some professional dancers in action, we have the answer. It’s entirely different than anything we’ve ever offered before. On Saturday, Febr.21, we will attend a program at the Rose Theatre in Omaha entitled “Swing, Swing, Swing”. The Omaha Ballet’s versatile dancers will be directed by New York choreographer Greg Ganakas. And the “Extra Space Jazz” orchestra will be featured as the swing band. So the afternoon will be an energetic and exciting affair as we watch the dancers jitterbug, jive and swing to the great melodies of the 20s, 30s and 40s.
We have priced this special event at $59, which includes busfare and dinner. Our bus will depart at 10 a.m. for the matinee performance. Just swing over to your phone and tell us that you want to SWING. Mornings at 362-4478.
Quick Responses
It’s amazing sometimes how quickly some events fill up! The most popular shows seem to become sold out within a few days. The latest example is the Church Basement Ladies show in Council Bluffs announced last week. The phones were buzzing immediately after the announcement came out in the Wednesday paper and by Thursday afternoon we had to declare it sold out. We are accepting a waiting list, but there are several on this list already.
Other shows which filled quickly were the Engelbert Humperdinck Concert next January, the Gaithers’ Homecoming in November, Bill Cosby on March 21st , the music of Walt Disney on March 1st and the Beach Boys on March 29th.
Some of our featured upcoming shows with only limited reservations still available are The Rat Pack on November 8th in Omaha, Frankie Avalon at the Lincoln Lied Center on Nov. 25th, the Lorie Line Christmas Concert on Dec.18th in Lincoln, and the popular musical “Wicked” in May at the Omaha Orpheum. Members interested in any of the above are advised to call and register before they also become marked “Sold Out”. Mornings at 362-4478 please.
Major
Domestic Trips
We have developed two very interesting and comprehensive domestic tours for the upcoming months. Kentucky & Tennessee Highlights scheduled for Oct. 10-20 and the Great Southwest Adventures on May 27-June 6, 2009. Invoices for the former have been rendered with a due date of next week. After the deadline we will know exactly how many members will be going. It has been considered full for several months.
The Southwestern trip was announced a month ago and interest has been high. We have received deposits from about 30 members, which insures it’s a “GO” and we will limit the reservations to the first 50 who register. This tour will cover such interesting places as Colorado Springs and Pike’s Peak, the Four Corners area, the Silverton-to-Durango narrow gauge train ride, Royal Gorge, the Grand Canyon, Monument Valley, Zion, Bryce and Capital Reef National Parks in Utah and the U. S. Mint in Denver. And much more. We have contracted with a knowledgeable local guide to assist during portions of the tour. He will be able to provide some history, local lore and other information about the areas involved.
Anyone interested in seeing a flyer with all the details is urged to call the office. The price $2195 per person double.
Missing
glasses?
One Fun Club member who attended our free dessert luncheon last Thursday afternoon left a pair of glasses behind. Our office has them; just come in and claim them!
Incidentally, everyone seemed to enjoy the colorful presentation about our upcoming Rhine & Moselle River Cruise to Germany and the Czech Republic coming up in November 2009. We currently have reservations for 24 members, but it’s still open! Ask for our brochure if interested.
