The unemployment rate for York County was higher in July than it was a year ago.
Figures provided by the Nebraska Department of Labor show the county’s rate was at 3.5 percent, compared to 2.8 percent at the same time in 2007.
It was down considerably, however, from June, when the rate was 4.4 percent.
In July, there were 7,730 people employed in York County, with 284 listed as unemployed.
The unemployment levels in July, for surrounding counties, were as follows: Fillmore County, 3.1 percent; Hamilton County, 2.6 percent; Polk County, 2.8 percent; Seward County, 4.5 percent.
