Area students receive Hastings College scholarships

HASTINGS — Area students have received scholarships to attend Hastings College for the 2008-09 academic year.
Denise Carlstrom, Polk, Neb., received academic and softball scholarships. Daughter of Dennis and Kathie Carlstrom, Denise attended High Plains Community School. She plans to major in elementary education.  
Marcus Bender, Hordville, Neb., received academic and basketball scholarships. Son of Terry and Melanie Bender, Marcus attended High Plains Community School. He plans to major in health promotion and management and sports management.  
Hastings College, founded in 1882, is a private, four-year liberal arts institution affiliated with the Presbyterian Church (USA). A total of 64 majors in 32 areas of study and 12 pre-professional programs are offered to 1,143 students.
