York, NE —

Beginning Thursday, Aug. 7 and running through Sunday, Aug. 10 Yorkshire Playhouse presents the musical “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat” on stage in the York High School Theatre. Directing the high energy production is Dr. Clark Roush, with assistance from Janette Foreman
The talented cast brings the Biblical story of Joseph (Zach Rush) and his coat of many colors to life in the timeless musical parable. It is the story of Joseph, a boy blessed with prophetic dreams. He is his father’s favorite son.
As the plot unfolds, jealous brothers sell Joseph into slavery, sending him to Egypt where he endures a series of adventures challenging both his spirit and humanity.
Purchased by Potiphar (Bob Sautter), he refuses the advances of Mrs. Potiphar (Elise Hart) and lands in jail. However, when news of Joseph’s ability to interpret dreams reaches the Pharoah (Lynn Hall) who is portrayed as an ancient Egyptian version of Elvis, Joseph is well on his way to becoming second in command.
“Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat” uses the musical styles of calypso, country-western, bubble-gum pop and rock and roll to tell the familiar Old Testament tale.
