A number of precincts came into play as voters made their choices in the races for county commissioner in Tuesday’s Primary Election. The figures show that the Republican winners — Kurt Bulgrin in District 2 and Pat Bredenkamp in District 5 — were consistently the top vote-getters across the board.
Bredenkamp won in both precincts within her district, and Bulgrin won half the precincts in his district. Doug Deprez was the obvious Democratic winner in the second district, because he was unopposed. Bredenkamp successfully won the campaign to be the District 5 commissioner, over Incumbent Bob Wolfe, because there were no Democrats seeking candidacy. She was the final winner, with 252 votes, over Wolfe’s 193 total. In Ward 4A, Bredenkamp received 115 votes, compared to Wolfe’s 93, and in Ward 4B, she earned 110 compared to Wolfe’s 82.
For District 2, the following is the breakdown of voters by precinct, in the Republican race:
• Stewart — Bulgrin, 36; Merv Ocken, 13; Ken Stuhr, 8; Dean Blum, 6; Erick Brekke, 3.
• Thayer/Morton — Bulgrin, 38; Ocken, 24; Stuhr, 19; Erick Brekke, 11; Dean Blum, 5; Write-in, 1.
• New York/Waco/Beaver — Bulgrin, 99; Stuhr, 36; Blum, 26; Ocken, 19; Brekke, 13.
• Ward 1B — Brekke, 34; Bulgrin, 32; Ocken, 10; Stuhr, 5; Blum, 3.
• Absentee — Stuhr, 8; Bulgrin, 7; Brekke, 7; Ocken, 7; Blum, 1.
The final tally in District 2 was: Bulgrin, 212; Stuhr, 76; Ocken, 73; Brekke, 68; Blum, 41, Write-in, 1.
