York, NE —

A York man may be facing prison time for using a gas card belonging to a local business.
George Foos pleaded no contest to one count of attempted theft by deception, which is a Class IV felony, in York County District Court during the past week. He could be facing up to five years in prison and/or a $10,000 fine.
He was originally charged with a Class III felony, but that was reduced as part of a plea agreement. Also part of the agreement is that the prosecution will not object to probation.
According to the factual basis proceedings, a York police officer was contacted by a local business who said they’d noticed unauthorized charges on a company credit card they used for gas purchases. The total amount of gas purchased illegally was determined to be $7,043.38.
Investigators said he admitted that the gas was being used in his own personal vehicles.
