A rash of burglaries, vehicle break-ins and thefts have plagued the York area in the last few days.
Hinz Repair on South Lincoln Avenue was burglarized late last week. Sgt. Norm Cobb with the York Police Department said someone forced entry into the building and stole an undisclosed amount of cash.
Then, someone broke into another automotive shop on North Lincoln Avenue — Sgt. Cobb said the information regarding that burglary was not immediately available. The burglary was reported Friday morning, and apparently took place sometime during the night before.
There were also numerous reports that vehicles had been broken into, over the weekend, and items were taken. Some of the items included stereos. The locations of the vehicle break-ins ranged from North Nebraska Avenue to Fairview Drive, North Mayhew, East Ninth and North Iowa.
Friday, it was reported to the police that someone had broken into an apartment on East 10th Street and items were taken — and more items have been reported stolen from yards, such as solar lights and lawn ornaments. Several weeks ago, thieves made off with a large amount of ornamental property.
If anyone has any information about any of these crimes, they are asked to contact the York Police Department at 363-2640.
