District judge approved as Great Plains Fellow

At its regular meeting, the Board of Governors of the University of Nebraska Center for Great Plains Studies, an interdisciplinary research and teaching center, approved the recommendation of its nominating committee that Alan G. Gless, District Court Judge, Fifth Judicial District, (Seward/York Counties); John Heaston, director, Platte River Program Office, The Nature Conservancy, Cozad; and Fred M. Shelley, professor and chair, Department of Geography, University of Oklahoma, be elected as Associate Fellows of the Center.
Associate Fellows of the Center include persons not presently holding regular appointments at the University of Nebraska who have a professional interest in the purposes and program of the Center. Candidates for election must be nominated by a faculty Fellow. The nomination must be supported by sufficient evidence of a research, teaching or public service commitment to the Plains region.
