Community Title has moved downtown to 610 Lincoln Avenue, York as of June 1, 2008. It was formerly located in the same building as Heritage Realtors.  Amie Kopcho is the licensed title agent and manager of the title company.
"We would like to extend a thank you to the community for its continued support," said Kopcho.  "We felt it was necessary to move the business downtown for convenience.  The downtown has been so supportive of our move and we have been made to feel very welcomed."
Kopcho said years ago when property was purchased, an abstract was drawn up by an attorney.  Now, banks require title insurance for the mortgages they write and that title insurance is the norm.  It gives the bank and the homeowner the necessary coverage to cover the costs of any litigation that could arise from a defect in the title.
When a buyer purchases real estate, they get to choose the title company they would like to utilize for the transaction.  Kopcho said that Community Title specializes in escrow closings, title insurance, title searches, abstracting, 1031 Exchanges, construction disbursements.  You can contact her at 362-6505 or stop in at the new location at 610 Lincoln Avenue.  She said the coffee is always on.
Many long-time residents will remember the 610 Lincoln location as where Smyers Jewelry was located.  The space was completely remodeled but Kopcho said they did preserve the built-in oak cabinet that is trimmed in marble.  In researching the building it was discovered that in 1891 the space had originated as an abstracting company known then as Baldwin & Wycoff Abstracting.  The space had been vacant for quite a time recently.
