York, NE —

Architect Dave Johnson will be making a presentation to the city council regarding a future project at East Hill Park that could include new restrooms and a concession stand.
There’s long been discussion about building such a structure — independent volunteers have been asking for years that changes be made to the facilities there.
Then, four entities agreed to make $2,000 allocations toward the project design — that money came from the city, York Public Schools, York College and local baseball organizers. It appears the architectural plans are now complete, and those will be presented before the council.
If the project is undertaken, there has been no clear indication as to who will pay for what, for construction. It’s also unclear as to whether a financial conversation will be held Thursday night.
The council is also expected to go into executive session to discuss water well field negotiations. The city has been talking with individuals who own property in the footprint of the city’s future well field, regarding the purchase of that land. Appraisals have been done, with offers being made.
They will also consider the mayor’s proposal to reappoint Dr. Harold Nordlund to the Housing Authority, an application filed by JW’s Catering to serve alcohol at the Cornerstone Event Center for a wedding reception, and a resolution that would create a grant agreement with the state which will benefit the airport.
The public is encouraged to attend the meeting, which will begin at 7 p.m., in the council chambers.
