Heartland FBLA members win three national awards

Henderson, NE —

The Heartland Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) chapter traveled to Atlanta, Georgia, for the National Leadership Conference from June 25 to June 30.  Michelle Barr, Tori Bittinger, Lauren Braun, Quint Geis, Kimberly Goossen, Clint Kroeker, Jessica Quiring, Brianna Rader and Whitney Steingard along with adviser Kristy Most participated in the weeklong conference activities. The group stayed at the Atlanta Marriott Marquis.
Clint Kroeker placed second in the nation in Accounting II. He received a cash award of $400 from the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. This was Clint’s first appearance at a national conference. He also competed in the Community Service Project.
Tori Bittinger placed second in the nation in Word Processing I.  The Alabama FBLA and Illinois FBLA chapters sponsored this event which awarded a cash prize of $200. This was Tori’s first appearance at a national conference.
Brianna Rader placed third in the nation in Accounting II. She received $300 from the American Institute of CPAs.  This was Brianna’s first appearance at a national conference.
Also competing at Nationals were Michelle Barr in Banking and Financial Systems and Community Service Project, Lauren Braun in Marketing, Quint Geis in Banking and Financial Systems, Kimberly Goossen in Word Processing I, Jessica Quiring in Marketing, and Whitney Steingard in Community Service Project and Word Processing II.  The state of Nebraska won 26 top ten awards.
The group enjoyed the following activities during the week: dinner at the Hard Rock Café, tour of CNN Worldwide Global Headquarters and the World of Coca-Cola, shopping at Lennox Square, dinner theater at Agatha’s, and the Georgia Aquarium.
