Kelly A. Baier, 51 of Grand Island died Tuesday, July 22, 2008 at his home after a long battle with cancer.
Services will be on Saturday, July 26, 2008 at 2:30 pm at the Apfel Funeral Home in Grand Island with Rev. Diana Covey officiating.  Burial will be at the Grand Island City Cemetery.  There will be no public visitation.  Memorials are suggested to the family.
Kelly A. Baier was born on July 5, 1957 in Lancaster, California, the son of Darvon and Barbara (Flanagan) Baier.  He grew up in New Ulm, Minnesota, moving to Lincoln in the second grade.  He moved to Hastings for his Sr. year of high school.  After his schooling he was a land surveyor in Colorado for a few years before moving back to Grand Island. 
He was united in marriage to Wendy Luttrell on June 3, 1989 in North Loup.  The couple lived in Omaha for three years before moving back to Grand Island.  He worked for Sears for three years before starting his own business called Kelly's Lawn Care.  He trained assistance dogs up until the time his health would not allow. 
He was a member of the Assistance Dog Institute of California.  He enjoyed yard work, fishing, hunting, working with dogs, the outdoors, and most of all his children.
He is survived by his wife Wendy Baier of Grand Island, two sons Travis and wife Cassie Baier of Wood River and Jaron Baier of Grand Island, two daughters, Shamlynn and husband Troy Berggren of Geneva and Kyrra Baier of Grand Island, two grandchildren, Zaden Baier of Wood River and Jocelyn Berggren of Geneva, his father Darvon and wife Jean Baier of Bentonville, Arkansas and his mother Barbara Flanagan of York, one brother, Brad and wife Angelia Baier of Rogers, Arkansas and two sisters, JoAnna Johnson
