Carrie Ann (Lewis) Hansen, 81, of York, died at Omaha on Wednesday, Oct. 8, 2008.
She was born Feb. 7, 1927, at Howard, S.D., the daughter of Jesse Raymond Lewis and Vivienne Ersland Lewis.
She was a public school administrator/educator, who served as the president of the South Dakota State Teachers Education Association in 1968 and 1969. She was a delegate to the National Education Association Conventions for several years, and was the national president of the Department of Classroom Teachers.
She belonged to numerous professional organizations, was the Lady of the Realm for Kass Kounty King Korn Karnival, was a member and past president of the Plattsmouth Lions Club, and was a member of the York Lions Club.
Survivors include her daughters, Lynne Barnts of York and Bonnie (Gerry) Foell of Aberdeen, S.D.; son, Steve (Celia) Hansen of York; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one sister, Margaret LeBahn of Brandon, S.D.; two brothers, Elmer (Nyla) Lewis of Rapid City, S.D., and Allen Lewis of Oldham, S.D.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Carol Michael and Jean Schwartz; and ex-husband, Bill Hansen.
A memorial service will be held at the Roby Funeral Home Chapel in Plattsmouth, at 2 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 11. Pastor Arthur Phillips will officiate. Honorable pallbearers will be members of the Plattsmouth Lions Club.
Interment of cremains will take place at a later date, at the Bellevue Lutheran Church Cemetery at Howard, S.D.
Memorials may be made in lieu of flowers, to the family.
Arrangements are being handled by the Roby Funeral Home.
