Approximately 100 girls and boys ages 9-14 put their talents on the line Wednesday afternoon, competing in a variety of different events. The meet drew kids from Gresham, Stromsburg, Shelby, Waco, McCool, Seward, Fairmont, Benedict, Bruning, Geneva, Aurora, Osceola, Hampton, Bradshaw, Ohiowa, Milligan and probably a few others.

The experienced one doubles team of Michaela Fischer and Teagan Beck will look to lead the York Dukes at state tennis this Thursday.
Seventh-seeded Fischer and Beck are the only returning Duke competitors from last year’s state tournament and are looking to improve on their quarterfinal performance from a year ago. According to Coach Josh Budler, the pair has a favorable draw into a likely quarterfinal matchup with second-seeded Grand Island Central Catholic.

In the Class B4 District basketball championship, the York Boys defeated Crete to earn their state ticket. This came after a regular season loss to the Cardinals.
Even though they say that lightning does not strike twice in the same spot, York’s win over Crete in the Class B3 District Track Meet on Thursday, was pretty close.
York head coach Josh Budler was hoping to see his girls tennis team make some progress on Thursday as the Dukes hit the road to Hastings for triangular action with the host Adams Central Patriots and the Lexington Minutemaids.
After falling 3-1 to the Lexington girls, the Dukes fought back to split their action with Adams Central 2-2.
