McCool Junction, NE —

Get ready York County race fans, this is going to be your week.
The state-of-the-art Junction Motor Speedway dirt circle, located across Hwy 81 west of McCool, is going to buzz — make that roar — with action and it all starts tomorrow night. That’s when the Nebraska Corn Growers Association joins Junction Motor Speedway as title sponsor of the Fourth Annual Cornhusker National Midget Challenge.
The NeCGA will be very visible at the fourth-annual O’Reilly POWRi Cornhusker Midget Challenge by Lucas Oil. The two-day motor sports challenge is set for Tuesday, July 29 and Wednesday, July 30.
The match was perfect for the Corn Growers of Nebraska to team up with Junction Motor Speedway. The race track is located in the heart of the nation’s corn industry, the area has some major ethanol production facilities nearby and the ‘Cornhusker’ portion of the Midget Challenge title certainly is fitting to the message of the Nebraska Corn Growers Association.
The Cornhusker Challenge brings the nation’s best equipment and drivers to Junction Motor Speedway as they vie for the twin ‘Cornhusker Crystal and Chrome’ trophies. Tuesday night’s winner will receive $3,000 while the Wednesday night champion will cash a $5,000 check.
Racing starts at 7:30 p.m. both nights.
The second half of Speed Week at JMS comes Friday and Saturday when the National Championship Racing Association and Major Late Model Racing Association both bring their Late Models to battle for this year’s King of the Hill Late Model Shootout championship.
Friday night the fastest Late Models around will be joined by the track’s two-person Cruisers and 4-cylinder Quad Rods. Saturday’s show features the Late Models on King of the Hill championship night along with Stock, Hobby Stock and Modified cars.
Racing starts at 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
