POLK — In a Crossroads Conference battle on Thursday night, the Shickley Longhorns won a four set battle with the host High Plains Storm.

“We came out and had trouble finding the open floor,” commented High Plains head coach Jeff Kyes. “We made some adjustments in the second set and won that one, but made to many mistakes at the end of the third and gave that one away. Shickley’s defense was very good, and they dug out a large number of attacks.”
At the net, High Plains was led by Nealey Hoffman with six kills, and six blocks, along with three ace serves, overall the team leader in kills was Anna Swanson with 11, MacKenzie Stevens had six kills and one block, while Meagan Sundberg added three kills and one ace serve.
In setting, Hannah Lott had 14 set assists, and Melissa Sundberg added seven. In digs Swanson was charted with 14, Hoffman had 18 and Lott 15.
“The girls played well for the most part, we just need to find ways to score more efficiently.”
High Plains (5-12) will be in action Tuesday night at the Exeter-MIlligan triangular which will also include Clay Center.
