Host Osceola finished third in the boys team standings of Wednesday’s 10-team D-4 District Track Meet. The Bulldogs scored 99 points and trailed only champion Humphrey St. Francis with 122 and the 100.5 points of Lindsay Holy Family.

Certain qualifiers for the Bulldogs include Seth Peterson, winner of the pole vault at 11-6, and Tony Cliffords whose 10:28.7 in the 3200-meter run was good for second. Landon Hayes earned a Q by winning the 110 hurdles in 15.6 and taking second in the 300 hurdles with a time of 41.9. Anthony Hanson won the 300 hurdles in 41.1 and was second in the 100 at 11.4.
The Osceola boys 400-meter relay of Hayes, Brady Erhart, Kyler LeSuer and Hanson won in a state qualifying 45.2.
For the girls in orange it was second in the team standings with 85 points to the Flyers of St. Francis who ran away and hit with 153. Lindsay Holy Family scored 79 and landed third.
Jaimie Branting qualified in two events. She won the discus at 93-10 and was second in the shot put with a best effort of 32-even. Sarah Carnes cleared the high jump bar at 4-11, took second and qualified for state. Jordyn Kuhnel made 8-10 when the chips were down in the pole vault and leapfrogged from third, where the senior would not have qualified, into second where a trip to state awaited.
Morgan Walgren won the 1600-meter metric mile in 5:47.8 and Osceola’s final qualifier, Kelsey Erhart , made the grade with 2:29.1 and second in the 800.
Additional qualifiers will be added to the field by comparing times among all Class D districts in the state.
