The only York team to come away with a “W” on Monday was the No. 1 doubles team of Michaela Fischer and Teagan Beck. The No. 1 York tandem defeated their opponents from Columbus 8-5 to keep the Dukes from being shut out.
“Teagan and Michaela played one of their better matches today,” commented York head coach Josh Budler. “We didn’t give away many points and we volleyed pretty well. I hope we can improve on this match and play even better on Thursday when we play a couple of good teams.”
The only singles match in question involved York’s Jessi James as she fought from behind to make things close. The York netter ended up dropping the match 9-7.
“Jessi came back from down 3-7 to tie the game,” explained Budler. “She volleyed well and cut out her unforced errors to get back in the match.”
York has just one more outing remaining before they will head to Lincoln on Thursday May 15 to open the State Tennis Tournament.
York will travel to Hastings where they will compete in the Adams Central Triangular.
