York, NE —

The York Cornerstone Seniors went back over the .500 mark on Tuesday night, as starter Jake Staehr twirled a three hit 2-1 win over G.I. Chief Industries.
“We won because Jake (Staehr) was dominant on the bump,” said York head coach Erik Gray. “He got ahead with strike one and just dominated the other team.”
York took a 1-0 lead in the second when Evan Keelan-White doubled to drive home a run.
The Chief Industries team scored their run in the top of the sixth, keyed by a lead-off batter being hit with a pitch.
York answered in the bottom half of the frame with a single tally, and while the G.I. team did not score in the seventh, two walks, Staehr’s only two of the night made for an interesting finish.
Staehr struckout seven Chief batters, walked two and gave up one run.
At the plate the Cornerstone Seniors managed 10 hits off Waverly pitching, led by four players with two hits each. Cole Robinson, Kevin Koester and Keelan-White all went 2-3, with Robinson having a triple and Keelan-White a double. Recording a 2-4 night at the plate was Kelan Walford.
York (10-9) is back in action this evening as they cap off the Firecracker Frenzy triple header by hosting Waverly at 5:30 p.m. at Levitt Stadium.
