Henderson, NE —

Heartland’s sideline looks like the walking wounded, but till the end Friday night the Huskies played with heart and determination.
The Palmer Tigers had the game well in hand at the half 42-0, but the Heartland team was not about to walk out off their home turf with goose eggs and piled up 22 in the fourth quarter, to account for the final score of 42-22.
On their very first possession, Palmer was struggling with moving the ball as it took all four downs to make 10 1/2 yards, and on 2-11 from the Palmer 25-yard line, the Huskies seem to have the Tigers bottled up. On the play Palmer’s Dillon Glause cut back against the grain and no one could catch him on the 55-yard scoring run. The PAT pass from Tyler Wichmann to Hayden Jensen made it 8-0.
Palmer picked up a fumble recovery and scored on six play 25-yard drive with Wichmann covering the final three yards, and Riley Santin added a 6-yard run to up the first quarter score to 20-0.
Palmer led 42-0 entering the final 12 minutes, but Heartland’s offense revved up and put three scores on the board.
With 8:32 to play in the game Nick Heinrichs took the zeros off the score board on a 14-yard run, five minutes later Heinrichs scored on a 27-yard run, and with 1:21 to play Heinrichs hit Travis Jensen on a 16-yard pass. Jarred Erb ran in the first PAT and Carlin Epp following the final score.
Heartland rushed for 160 and passed for 39 for 199 yards, while the Tigers hit the ground for 275 and added 41 passing for 316.
Leading the Heartland running game was Seth Schaldecker with 14-44, and he passed the ball 14 times, connected on seven with two picks.
Palmer was led by Glause who picked up 56 yards on eight tries and Wichmann hit 5-10 for 41 yards.
On the defensive side of the ball, Heinrichs had 18 tackles, while Jordan Gibson and Schaldecker had eight each.
Heartland (0-5) will be at Osceola next Friday night.
