High Plains’ senior Logan Russell, a two-time Class D state champ, improved to 18-0 this season after winning the 106-pound division of the 50th annual Clarks/High Plains Invitational in Columbus on Saturday. Russell went 7-0 with one bye along the way to winning his division. Russell won all seven of his matches by pin, including over Valentine’s Jarrett Battershaw, the No. 5-rated wrestler in Class C, in the finals. Russell also pinned Centennial’s Wyatt Schoepf in the semifinals, who is considered a contender in Class C this season.
