Weston A. Negley Jr.

Weston A. Negley Jr., known by his family and friends as Junior, age 77 years, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 9, 2019 after battling dementia for several years.

He was born on June 11, 1941 at Nelson to Weston A. Negley Sr. and Margaret I. Tolles. He was a 1960 graduate of North Platte High School in North Platte.

After high school Wes served four years in the United States Air Force and was stationed at Reese Air Force Base in Lubbock, Texas.

Wes was united in marriage to Roberta Reed on Oct.18, 1964 at Aurora. To this union three children were born. Wes worked as a welder and machinist in York at the York Foundry, Scott Hourigan and Sundstrand Aviation and was a co-owner of York Agri-Products. During these years he was an active member of the Assembly of God church in York and served as a deacon, Sunday School teacher and Royal Rangers leader.

Wes is survived by his former wife and lifetime friend, Roberta (Reed) Negley of York; son, Michael Negley of Lincoln; daughter, Paula (Negley) Miller of York and son, Jason and Jaime (Ackerman) Negley of Polk. He is also survived by grandchildren, Brandon, Tyler and Gavin Negley of Lincoln, Alicia (Cody) Rempel of York, Jared Miller (fiancé Ryleigh Ott) of York, Sydney Negley of Springfield, Mo., Cooper and Cash Negley of Polk and great grandchildren, Jackson McGraw, Aubree and Jordan Rempel of York; brothers, Jim Negley of Branson Mo. and Doug (Novita) Negley of Holdrege; sisters, Wanda Weiche of Greenleaf, Kan., Sandy (Elmer) Trapp of Cape Girardeau, Mo., Marilyn Massey of Lake City, Fla., Shirley Morris of Vicksburg, Miss. and Margaret Frazier of League City, Texas.

Wes preceeded in death by his father, Weston; stepmother, Eloris; mother, Margaret; stepfather, Milton; sisters, Linda Sandlin and Pat Gastineau; parents-in-law, Ted and Amy Reed and fondly remembered grandparents, aunts, uncles and other family members.

A celebration of Weston’s life will be held on Thursday, March 21 at 10 a.m. at the New Heights Assembly of God church in York. A luncheon will be held after the service at the Yorktown Estates Clubhouse in York. Friends and family are invited to attend.
