Chester Hatfield

Chester Lee Hatfield, age 78, of Stromsburg, passed away Wednesday, July 10, 2019 at Stromsburg.

He was born June 23, 1941 in Trenton, Mo. to Chester A. and Ednagene (Reames) Hatfield. Chester served his country in the Air Force, and worked as a truck driver. He was married to Tobi Hobbs, Sharren Cohagen and Joan Radcliff.

Chester enjoyed playing cards, western television and going to coffee with his friends. He especially enjoyed dancing, watching the Denver Broncos, playing cribbage, chess, and pool, and guns.

He is survived by his son, Eldon Johnson of Doniphan; daughters, Christi (Bill) Payne of York, Lori (Tony) Lovell of Wymore, Amber (fiancé Curtis Quiring) Hatfield of Fairmont and Jeanette (Danny) Miller of Doniphan. He is also survived by his sisters, Joenda Weaver of Trenton, Mo., Carla Cahill of Grandview, Mo., and Maylene (Lee) Stuart of Bonham, Texas; eleven grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, along with several nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Sharren and granddaughter.

Memorial services are scheduled for 10 a.m., Monday, July 15, 2019 at Metz Chapel York with Pastor Bob Johnson officiating. Military Honors to follow services at the mortuary. Private family inurnment. No visitation, cremation. Memorials may be directed to the family for later designation.

Condolences may be sent to the family at Metz Mortuary in York is handling arrangements.
