Eunice Troester, 82, of York, passed from life to eternal life on Dec. 12, 2014. She was born Jan. 10, 1932, at Hampton, to John C. and Clara (Driewer) Troester.
Eunice was baptized into Christian Faith at Salem Lutheran Church in Hampton and was later confirmed on May 20, 1945, at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, Hampton. She graduated from Hampton High School in 1949 and attended Doane College.
Eunice was a bookkeeper at Wortman Motor Co., O. L. Clark and Sons, York Motor Co. and Batterton Waterproofing, Inc.
Faith, family and friends were of great importance to Eunice. Bowling was a pastime which brought many lifelong friendships and Eunice was a lifetime member of the Nebraska State 600 Bowling Club.
Until slowed by a stroke in 2002, Eunice was always ready for a trip or adventure with friends. The friendship she extended to others was rewarded by family and friends visiting Eunice regularly after her stroke. While Eunice was cared for by the staff at the Willowbrook, she also cared greatly for them and was grateful for their friendship. Her unique sense of humor led her to orchestrate a prank by enticing all Willowbrook residents to simultaneously press their call buttons to welcome a staff member’s return to work.
Eunice is survived by her brother, Wayne Troester; niece, Janet and her nephews and their spouses Ron (Sara), Gary (Denise), Allen (Stacey) and Bob (Julie). Special friends surviving include Carol Bittinger, Verleen Ellis, Kathy Seim, Cindi Keister, Mary Gloystein, Deb Petsche, Deb Hayek and Rhonda Koehn.
Eunice was preceded in death by her parents, infant sister Elaine, and sister-in-law, Phyllis Troester.
