Patrick J. Franklin, 73, died May 3, 2019 at his home in Tunas, Mo. after a long battle with cancer.
Patrick was born on August 11, 1945 in Corpus Christi, Texas to Howard and Alneta Franklin. He was a graduate of Joplin High School in Joplin, Mo. and York College in York. He married Cheryl D. Fort in 1968, in Joplin, Mox. Patrick was a veteran of the US Navy and retired from the Army National Guard after 30 years of service, and had a successful career as the Superintendent of the York Municipal Waste Water Treatment Plant in York.
They raised two children, Tom Franklin of York and Wendy Evans of Gilbert, Ariz. Patrick and Cheryl moved to Tunas, Mo. upon retirement in 2006. In his spare time, he enjoyed hunting on his acreage in Missouri and was passionate about gun safety. He was an instructor for Nebraska Hunters Safety in York for many years.
He was diagnosed with esophageal cancer in 2017, was under treatment at MD Anderson in Houston, Texas for one year and at Mercy Hospital in Springfield, Mo.
Patrick is survived by his wife, Cheryl; son, Tom (Jeri); daughter, Wendy (Mike) Evans and his grandchildren, Kristyn Hamilton, Kailyn Hamilton and Jason Franklin.
