YORK – York County’s unemployment rate was up slightly in the month of January, according to figures provided by the Nebraska Department of Labor.
The unemployment rate here in January was 2.4 percent, compared to 2.2 percent in December and 2 percent in November.
The local rate a year ago was 2.5 percent.
In January, the labor force in York County was estimated to be 7,286 with 7,110 people employed and 176 people considered to be unemployed.
The state’s unemployment rate for January was 2.8 percent – the same it was in December.
“Industries again experienced normal seasonal declines in January, while the state’s total labor force and number of employed workers in the labor force were both up over the month and over the year,” said Commissioner of Labor John H. Albin.
