YORK – Fire departments from York and Bradshaw responded to a structure fire shortly after 2 p.m., Tuesday, west of York.

A garage/outbuilding caught fire on property owned by Gary Klundt, at 1011 Road 11.

The departments brought both manpower and tankers to the scene – the structure was quite engulfed when they arrived, according to scanner conversations, but they quickly got the blaze under control.

The wind was blowing from the south at the time of the fire, so there was some concern about the fire spreading to the house located just to the north. By quickly getting the fire under control, the concern about the safety of the house was alleviated.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

Authorities at the scene did not speculate about the value of damage to the structure or its contents, as the firefighting effort was still active.
