YORK and SEWARD COUNTIES – All District 24 voters are invited and encouraged to attend a forum featuring the two candidates seeking the District 24 legislative seat, which will be held next Monday, May 7.
The candidates are Sen. Mark Kolterman, the incumbent, and Stephanie Nantkes.
Both candidates are from Seward.
Sen. Kolterman was elected to the position in 2014. Prior to his position as state senator, his career was in the insurance industry.
Nantkes’ career has been in the field of education.
The forum will be held at the Utica Community Senior Center at 7 p.m.
The location was chosen as a mid-point in the legislative district so travel time for voters will be minimalized.
While the forum will start at 7 p.m., the doors will open at 6:30 p.m.
This is being sponsored by the York News-Times and the Seward County Independent.
During the forum, the moderators will ask the candidates questions with each person having an opportunity to respond to each question.
Voters are encouraged to send in questions for the candidates – they can do so via http://yorknewstimes.com/forum or by physically mailing questions to the attention of Melanie Wilkinson at the York News-Times, P.O. Box 279, York, NE 68467.
Questions will be formulated by staff from both newspapers.
During the forum, questions will be randomly chosen by the moderators and asked of the candidates.
This will be an opportunity to hear directly from the candidates about a number of issues, which will include topics such as property taxes, the state’s correctional system, budgetary challenges, health care, funding for education and much more.
