YORK -- The GFWC York Junior Woman's Club's second meet-and-greet held during frigid weather on Feb. 26, 2019, at Kilgore Library, had one new visitor attending, Janelle Medinger.
Ronda Harris was elected President and Rebecca Hasty, Recording Secretary. Ronda recently moved to York, from Lexington, and is anxious to be involved with our community service club.
She suggested our first project be collecting plastic bottle caps of all colors, shapes and sizes to be donated to the American Legion Auxiliary project of making a bench for the new Veteran’s Hospital.
A box will be placed in the foyer of the Kilgore library and the public is invited to donate their plastic bottle caps during the month of March.
GFWC District President Pat Gage brought the appropriate new club paperwork for us to complete and it will be filed with the state. Pat also discussed the upcoming GFWC State Convention to be held in York at the Best Western on April 4-6, 2019, and encouraged everyone to attend.
The next meeting will be held Tuesday, March 26 at the Kilgore Library at 5:30 p.m. Hope Dunbar has been invited to show us fun ways to exercise the lungs. Hope is a great songwriter, singer, and musician.
She was new folk finalist 2018 and 2015. She has been in many cities and states, and lives in Utica. She's been on NET Radio and at the Nebraska Folk and Roots Festival in Omaha.
