HENDERSON — Henderson Health Care broke ground on the new long term care facility on the morning of June 14.
The new facility will be located directly north of the current 60-year-old facility at 1631 Front Street.
“With constantly changing regulations and needs of the residents, a new long term care facility is imperative for the continued care of the residents, satisfaction of the staff and continued economic development in the Henderson community,” said Cheryl Brown, Henderson Health Care Services CEO. “I am pleased with the forethought of the board and I am looking forward to seeing their vision carried out.”
The new long term care facility will provide 40 resident rooms, a large activity room, library, therapy room, large living rooms with fireplaces and small, more private dining.
Barb Chelewski, Henderson Care Center Director of Nursing said, “The new facility will allow more room for resident activities, dining and interaction with family and guests. The staff will be able to provide a higher level of care in the updated resident rooms.”
The new long term care project has officially begun and is scheduled to be completed in the spring of 2019.
“We are truly surrounded by the best of the best,” said Brown during Thursday morning’s groundbreaking ceremony.
Henderson Health Care is excited to be keeping these types of services close to home, and the Henderson Chamber of Commerce feels that this will also help draw people to the town of Henderson for retirement. Without a doubt, this project will spark residual economic development in the town.
The facility promises to be one of the best facilities in the state of Nebraska. Brown assured listeners on Thursday morning that a lot of research went into designing this facility. Visits to long term facilities all over the state gave great insight on what it would take to be the best in the state.
Construction updates will be provided as the project moves forward.
