YORK—Family and friends gathered at the York County Fairgrounds July 3 for the 13th annual Firecracker Frenzy.
York Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Madonna Mogul said that it is hard to gauge attendance at events like the Firecracker Frenzy, it seemed to be well-attended. “The stands looked good and the surrounding lots were packed,” Mogul said.
While the firework show put on by The Big Bang Boom shoot team was the main event, attendees also had the opportunity to have another blast in their own neighborhood. A large firecracker display package was raffled off by the York Chamber of Commerce. The winner was drawn July 1.
The Wild Hawgs motorcycle club served up grub at their concession stand – even bringing concession goodies to the parking lot for those who wanted to watch the show from their cars.
“Wild Hawgs indicated it was a good night,” Mogul said.
York TeamMates volunteered to help with the considerable cleanup of the show.
It is businesses and organizations like TeamMates and the Wild Hawgs who help make events like Firecracker Frenzy a booming success, Mogul said. The York community in general also plays a big role in keeping the 13-year tradition going, Mogul added. “The fireworks are only possible with financial support from the community,” she said. “We continue to accept donations.”
Overall, Mogul said the Chamber deemed this year’s Firecracker Frenzy a success. “We felt the event went very well from set up in the morning through cleanup on the fourth.”
