BRADSHAW — Blooms of all sizes, shapes, colors and textures are spread out across Harmony Nursery Daylily Farm’s campus.

Harmony Nursery specializes in daylilies, and has been hosting an open house to show off the brilliant blossoms. Harmony Nursery owner Jenni Harrington said the event coincides with daylilies’ optimal flowering season, which spans the next three weeks.

Harrington said what initially attracted her to daylilies was their versatility. “They can take it hot, they can take it wet, they can take it dry,” she said. “You can just plant them by a barn [for example], don’t pay attention to them and they will be fine. They’re really easy to grow.”

Harmony Nursery also sells other plants, along with landscaping elements. “It has just grown into a garden center,” Harrington said. The plants for sale have also been planted and tested on-site. “Some plants don’t always work, so we trial them,” Harrington said.

Even so, the main event is the prominently-planted daylilies, greeting visitors as they enter the farm. Harrington keeps a variety of daylilies – and other plants -- at the nursery’s location. While Harrington said she keeps things affordable, since she started “collecting” daylilies Harrington has seen some plants sell anywhere from $100 - $150. “That a new cultivar that’s just been registered,” she explained.

With flowers of so many colors, shapes and textures, Harrington and her team have seemed to embrace the Harmony Nursery slogan: “Growing with Imagination.”
