LINCOLN – Behind 31 points and an 11-of-12 performance at the free-throw line from senior guard Dacey Nelson, the Oakland-Craig Knights girls basketball team placed third in the Class C-2 state tournament with a 68-60 win over the Fillmore Central Panthers Saturday morning at Lincoln Southeast High School.

Fillmore Central ends its season with a record of 23-6 and a fourth-place finish in the tournament. Two seniors played their final game in a Fillmore Central uniform, including Lauryn Monteforte and Abbigayle Smith.

Fillmore trailed 19-16 after the first quarter and just 33-32 at halftime. But Oakland outscored the Panthers in both the third and fourth quarters to earn the win.

Three Panthers scored in double figures including Erin Schmidt with a team-high 17 points, Jackie Schelkopf with 15 and Macy Scott with 10. Halle Theis chipped in with nine points, all of which came in the first half.

Abby Nichols added four points for Fillmore while Rhiannon Shaner had three and Lexi Theis two.
