The York Cornerstone Juniors head out to the field moments before the first pitch against a home game against Fairbury June 4 at Levitt Stadium.

FAIRFIELD – The York Cornerstone Juniors Legion baseball team was busy this past weekend as it went a combined 2-2 in four games, all of which were played on the road.

On Sunday, York defeated Fairfield 11-9 in extra innings. Beau Woods hit a two-run double to left field that scored Isaac Stark and Creighton Hirschfeld in the top of the eighth inning. Shortly after that, Caleb Sahling put the Juniors on top 11-8 with a fielder’s choice that scored a run.

On Saturday, the Juniors competed in the Hastings Triangular and opened with a big 15-2 win over Gering in five innings but fell in the second game to Hastings, 4-2.

York outhit Gering 10-5 in the win. Against Hastings, the Juniors racked up 11 hits but could only manage two runs.

On Friday night in Aurora, York lost 9-8 after a walk-off single from the hosts. York had 16 hits in the loss to nine for Aurora.

The York Cornerstone Juniors are now 8-5 on the season and will be on the road again Tuesday night for a 5:30 p.m. game in David City.
