The Nebraska Supreme Court exercises jurisdiction over admission to the practice of law in the State of Nebraska. The court established the Nebraska State Bar Commission to review all applicants and make recommendations to the court for admission. The commission oversees the administration of the Uniform Bar Exam ("UBE") in Nebraska twice yearly for admission by examination. Applicants may apply for admission on motion if already licensed in another state or by UBE score transfer.
Application process
All applicants must apply using the Nebraska admissions application located on the online admissions application website.
Please note that if you submit an application in February for the July exam, there will likely be a delay in you receiving a notification of processing your application due to an influx of applications received and simultaneously preparing for and administering the February bar exam. If your application status is showing as "In Staff Review", it was submitted and payment has been made.

Payment
Payment must be made through the online admissions application website. Credit cards, debit cards, or e-checks are accepted. Physical checks will not be accepted. Applications will not be processed until full payment has been received.
References
References provided by applicants are essential to the character and fitness investigation. Applicants will facilitate the processing of their application by providing correct email addresses in the contact information for all references.
Fingerprints
Fingerprints are required of all applicants for each application submitted. In some cases, fingerprint agencies will scan and submit fingerprints electronically and it is not necessary for the applicant to submit fingerprint cards. When the agency does not submit fingerprints electronically, the applicant must return two physical cards by mail or in person to the Nebraska State Bar Commission. All biodata required on the fingerprint cards must be completed by the applicant for processing. Failure to complete the information may cause several weeks of delay in processing.
Applicants may request blank fingerprint cards (not required; this is a courtesy by the Nebraska State Bar Commission) by emailing nsc.attyadmissions@nejudicial.gov. Please provide your mailing address to which the blank physical cards can be mailed. Completed fingerprint cards may be mailed or hand delivered to the Nebraska State Bar Commission.
Supplements to the application
Applicants may be required to complete supplemental forms and provide supplementary documentation in response to some items on the application. These forms and documents are indicated within the application. Documents required of all first-time applicants for admission by examination are specified in the application instructions.
In addition to the required documents listed above, applicants are required to provide an MPRE score of 85 or above before the application deadline to avoid paying a $100 fee.
Deadlines and fees
An application is deemed filed when it is received by the director. Additionally, an application is not complete until all required releases, notarized and other supplementary forms and documents are received.
To avoid paying a late fee, the application must be completed and received on or before October 15 for the February exam or on or before March 1 for the July exam.
